Although Turkey is a secular state, government restrictions, social
hostilities and nationalism are key sources of persecution, causing
discrimination, hate crimes and unfair judicial treatments. Muslims who
convert to Christianity risk losing their jobs and being disinherited by
their family. Some churches are registered and have permission
to organize church services. Police officers are present in some church
services to protect church-goers, but also to monitor the activities of
Christians.
Pray:
- Sharing the gospel is socially unacceptable and sometimes dangerous.
Ask God to protect those reaching out with the love of Jesus
- In recent years Turkey has become more open to public expressions of
Islam under the government of Prime Minister Erdoğan. Pray for more
openness to the gospel
- The trial against the murderers of three Christians in Malatya is still ongoing. Pray for justice to be done.
